The Red Room

The Delhi Central Railway Station is so weird with this red flashing from every board above eye level sea level see level. It reflects off of everything around, giving the whole thing an eerie, thuggish yet whimsical appeal. I love taking photos in coloured light, I learnt.

The big fat indian wedding

Until now i didnt know i was phobic of an excess of primary colours, loud shrill baby screams and glittery clothes - all together in room tiny room. And the smell of fake (acidic) mehndi which was burning my hand!
I am tired, no more.
Go home. Go home.
You also.
No i dont fuking care how much the groom weighs!

Empty.

Thats the first word that comes to my head.
There are very few people in this part of the world.

Downtown at 5 in the evening.
And because we are in the northern latitudes, the light dose not change, almost all day long. The sun does not go up, it just goes around the horizon. There is sunlight from 5 in the morning until 9 at night.

Belongings

muru

i'm loving being with my cousins but i miss my brother. the circle is incomplete. there isn't anyone to smirk to about the curly R's and nasal O's in words like xerox. i found these pictures on my computer by accident, i think he forgot to delete them. joy!

heterogenous mixtures.

call me old fashioned but the first thing i ask someone when i go to a new place is, what's the weather been like. not for lack of conversation but because the air is genuinely the first thing i want to know about a place. then, the saddest thing about airports, for me, has to be that they are completely air conditioned, and hence, have no leeway for sampling international air. that's why i made it a point to sneak a little gust from the side door of the aerobridge thingie. HONG KONG'S AIR SMELLS OF KELP. or what i imagine to be the smell of kelp anyway. from all the aromatherapy products we've been told to believe in.

so, yeah, kelp.

and one thing lead to another and for some reason i was thinking of the words kimono and komodo. and they've coloured my image of hong kong forever now. it's strange, but makes sense in my head. the misty mountains in the distance, the jade coloured water, the marquee that says it's 24 degrees outside. everything is mixing so nicely, gaseously even.

okay, dragonair is about to depart now. love from hongkong!

avanisday1inbombay

So my holiday-ing started today.
I have arrived in hot humid sweaty Bombay,
Maximum city as they call it. It really is maximum in a lot of ways.
As the plane was touching down and i could see the city, I could not see an inch of unoccupied space. Completely carved out hills and absolutely no empty spaces. And no trees.

On the Bangalore airport, there was a man clad in two small white towels (ONLY)
:? i have no clue what that was about, but it was pretty queer.
And then on the flight there was a famous theater actress, Arundati Nag. She wore a beautiful white cotton sari, with green peacock block print. And she wore a blue and red blouse. I want to look like her when i am old.

I did fancy Bombay things, ate some lovely salad, and now waiting for a friend to wrap up work. Sitting outside, in his studio's lounge. It is a special effects studio, where they do edits, colour correction, telecine, animation etc for bollywood films and ad agencies. It is the fanciest studio i have seen.. While i write, i am going to sneakily try to take a picture. The people here are rude and arrogant and nonchalant.
I am now sitting in one of edit rooms. They are colour correcting some ad film. Its a crazy process. They have some 4 different computers, some fancy edit machine, the best sound.. its heaven. But these guys have been working in this room for four days straight, its sunday night, everyone is tired, cranky and dying.

I spent the afternoon hours with mom's friend who is a fancy fashion designer. Its an absurd world all these people live in and talk about.

Wow, is this the kind of world some of us will end up living in? I hope not.. or maybe.. to each his own.
I am tried and bored. I dont like leather couches and strange designer people.
More later ladies.
love.

Here, a sneaky picture happened. This is one of the tiny edit rooms where i am sitting right now. The AC makes it all too cold.
