hot water shower

saw in the corner of my bathroom
a spider trying to catch a fly.
the landscape of this hunt
seems ridiculous to me -
all vitrified tiles and smooth.
spider makes a series of long legged moves.
but silly, the fly can see you.
fly goes down to the bottom of the tile
sits quite literally in the corner of the room
for a while
and then starts inching up.
cheeky,
where do you think you're going, fly?
spider can't you see this?
or are you too scared to go beyond the web?
(which hangs all torn anyway)
i'm watching this while having a shower.
this fact i only notice when all the water's turned cold.
well, at least
steam inhalation for the cold is complete.
